We Are, Beal City

Goodbye Aggies: The Last and Final Post

Our fall semester of college is coming to an end and with that this is the last blog posting. We would like to say thank you to all the fans of the Aggies you were a big contribution to our blog success. You guys traveled well to every game in support of your team. The dedication you guys have has helped our group and the football team sore past our expectation this year. We as a group would like to ask one favor from you guys. That is to give the same amount of support and more to the next class that may do the same project with you guys.

To the future senior and new varsity players we wish you the best of luck next season. Upcoming seniors this is your time to lead and shine. You guys have the ability to write the wrongs that happened during your junior season. Be an example for the new varsity players to follow. For the new varsity players welcome to the high school big leagues. The game will be a little quicker and you may need to increase your football IQ but that will come with time and practice. Play every game like it is your last to help the senior during their last season. The seniors will greatly appreciate it and when you become seniors the year after the junior class under you will likely do the same for you.

To coach Brad Gross we want to congratulate you on your successful first year as varsity head coach. You and your coaching staff did a great job rallying your team together after the upset lost to Evart. We also like that you have mandatory study hall for your players. You guys aren’t just creating football players instead you are turning football players into student athletes and preparing them for life. We look forward to hearing about your future accomplishments and you leading the team back to Ford Field for the State Championships. Keep up the great work!

To this year senior class you guys left it all out on the field. You guys had a tremendous season and we enjoyed watching you improve as the season went on. For some of you this is the last time you may play football competitively and that’s fine. Our group as a whole played football when we were in high school and we loved the sport so much we decided to become Sport Management majors. There are lots of options available for you once you go to college. You can join Intramural Sports and play competitively against people at your school and if your team is good enough you can play in the National Intramural Championship. There also club sports available for you to play at the college level. Two of our group members play, Josh S starts on CMU Club Rugby team and Doug Moors starts on the CMU Club Baseball team. There are plentiful of options available for you guys to stay in sports you just have to take them. We wish you guys the best on whatever path you take and hope you still pursue sports.

From 5 CMU students who took over Beal City football we say FAIRWELL and WE ARE, BEAL CITY!!

Fun Q&A with Aggie Seniors

Not only did I get the chance to talk to the Juniors, but I talked to the Seniors as well. Although they will be leaving after this year, they gave us some great football to watch throughout their high school careers. Let’s get to learn a little bit more about them in our Q&A:

Q: Thanksgiving was a couple weeks ago, and Christmas is coming up… what’s your favorite holiday and why?

Jake Matthews: “Christmas. I like being with my family and it’s when the family members that live out of state come home.”

Tucker Gross: “Thanksgiving because I can over-eat, spend time with family, and watch football.”

Chase Rollin: “Christmas for sure. Just all the excitement leading up to it. Being with family and getting presents isn’t bad either.”

Q: What are you looking forward to, or not so forward to, in regards to life after college?

Jake: “Meeting new people and being able to do things my way.”

Tucker: “Independence at college and just the college life in general. Not looking forward to paying bills.”

Chase: “I’m looking forward to having freedom, to make my own choices, and learning things on my own. I’m not looking forward to paying for everything by myself and having to start all over in life without the aide of my parents.”

Q: Who do you think will win the College Football Playoff?

Jake: “Michigan State. I have to root for our own state.”

Tucker: “MSU.”

Chase: “Michigan State, no doubt.”

Good Luck with your futures fellas!

Fun Q&A with Aggie Juniors

As mentioned in a previous post, we got the chance to talk to some Aggie Juniors about this past season. Not only did we talk about football though, we got a chance to chat about some stuff happening off the field. Let’s get to know some of our Aggies a little bit better with this Q&A:

Q: Who’s your favorite athlete these days and why?

Kyle Yuncker: “My favorite athlete is LeBron James because he had dominated basketball for around a decade. He handles most things with class.”

Tristan Smith: “My favorite professional athletes are Cam Newton and Tom Brady. I just like the way they play. They always play with confidence and love the sport. I also like how Cam does stuff with young people and young athletes.”

Nick Schafer: “Miguel Cabrera is my favorite athlete because he is a great hitter and he is very consistent. He has been a major reason for the success of the Tigers.”

Q: Do you have a pregame ritual for game day?

Kyle: “I listen to music to get pumped up and I try to meditate/focus for about 10 minutes.”

Tristan: “Before every game day I eat and listen to a pump up track on my phone. Then me and my senior friends would play basketball or catch with a football. I don’t know what I will do this year without the seniors.”

Nick: “I listen to music and go through things in my head and try to relax.”

Q: Who do you think is going to win the Super Bowl this season?

Kyle: “The Panthers.”

Tristan: “I think the Carolina Panthers are going to win, but with football you never know what will happen.”

Nick: “I want the Panthers to win, but I think the Patriots are going to make another run in the playoffs and win.”

Radio interview with Todd Levitt

Doing a blog on Beal city high school football brought me and my team great opportunities. A great opportunity we had was to talk with Todd Levitt; he is a lawyer and has his own radio talk show. We reached out to Todd and informed him about our situation and what we do and we told him how were trying to get our blog out there and he was interested and invited us on his radio show. Todd brought us on his show and let us discuss our blog. We told all the listeners our purpose of the blog and how this is for a class. We talked about each of me and my teammate’s role and told them the university we attend and what class it is for is and our major. We enjoyed our visit at Todd’s law firm he showed us around and told us about his background and his journey to where he is today and what other events he participate in such as charity and donations. Todd plans on having us return for a visit so he can see how the Aggies finished out the season and we can discuss that on the radio again and what we continue to do with our blog site after the season.

Supporting the Aggies

My team would like to thank all of the fans and supporters of Beal city football and just send a message informing you how we appreciate the support you give the Aggies and how to be a small town you guys have very big hearts and support and have your arms open to the boys no matter what. The football team had a very successful season, it wasn’t the best out of all their seasons but it was still a good one ending with the record 9-3. They were expecting to be in the state championship again but just could not manage to get past Muskegon catholic central. You guys came out and supported every game no matter the weather or distance. When the Aggies traveled to Saginaw valley state university for their last game of the regular season, a lot of fans and supporters from Beal city still attended the game. That really stood out to our team, to see this town being loyal fans and letting their football team know there with them no matter what. We just wanted to thank you for supporting the aggies and our blog and good luck to the rest of the seasons!

The begggining of Beal City basketball journey

Beal city starting there basketball season a little rough. They’ve lost their first two games. It’s still early in the season and is still developing. Beal city lost their first game of the season on the road to Clare high school, the aggies fell short 63-59. The second game of the season was the Aggies home opener against Standish-sterling high school. The aggies lost their home opener by 15 points 68-53. This game was also important because it was a conference game. The Aggies are starting off 0-1 in conference play and they are also 0-1 in non-conference play. I think a difficult thing the aggies are facing this season is being shorthanded on players. There is a huge difference between the amount of players they had last year and this year. The Aggies lost over 50% of their players from last season. Last season the basketball roster was 17 and this year they only have 7 players on the roster. The main probably is obviously fatigue; they only have 2 subs so basically all the players play most of the game. The aggies are hanging around with these teams so far this season even though they are shorthanded, they look to turn things around and strive for a great season.

preview for 2015-2016 boys basketball season

Beal city looks to have a successful season similar to last year’s 2014-2015 basketball season. Last year the Aggies went 15-9, they were 8-6 in conference play. The aggies had a decent road record winning 6 on the road and losing 6 on the road they were right at 500 for the road. The Aggies had a nice home record; they were getting the job done in their house. The Aggies were 9-3 at home. The Aggies total win percentage for the reason was 625%. The Aggies national rank was 7,076 last season and in the state of Michigan they were ranked 247th.  Last season the longest winning streak the Aggies had been winning 4 games in a row, they did that a couple of times. The Aggies were on a 3 game winning streak until they faced Shelby high school in the high school boys’ basketball playoffs. The Aggies fell short in a heartbreaker losing by two points 45-43. That was the end of the boy’s season, it was a good one, they grinded it out and won a lot of close and tough games. The Aggies won some tough games on the road by a basket. The Aggies are looking forward to have a successful season in 2015-2016 and plan going further and continue to have the same energy they brought last season.

Beal city vs. Saginaw Nouvel Basketball game preview

The aggies look to bounce back and seek their first win of the season and on the road as well. The Aggies will be traveling to Saginaw to take on Saginaw Nouvel catholic central. The interesting thing about this game is that both teams don’t have a win this season yet. The Aggies who are 0-2 and Saginaw Nouvel is 0-1. Both teams are both hungry for their first win, and both teams are going to give it their all and only one team will get their first win of the season. This game is important as well because this is a conference game and both teams are both looking for their first conference win. The game tips off at 7:00 pm, make sure you come see the aggies seek their first win of the season it’s going to be a good game!
